Tim Elliott to become Chairman with Matt Elliott appointed to Managing Director
September 2012
On Saturday 15th September, Elliott Baxter culminated its 90th anniversary celebrations with a 1920's themed garden party followed by a dinner dance with a live Charleston band. The event was attended by staff and their partners from all 11 branches of the Company. During the celebrations Tim Elliott announced that his son, Matthew, would become the fourth Elliott to be Managing Director of the family business as Tim becomes the Company's Chairman. This will be effective from 1st October 2012. Tim Elliott said in his speech, “Our 90th year trading is a time for reflection, but also a time to look forward. I am the third Elliott Managing Director of the Company, grandfather, father and son; now is the time to pass the baton onto my son, Matthew, who will become Managing Director on 1st October. And as for me, I've held the position as Managing Director for 27 years and I will now become the Chairman. I'm looking forward to my new role which I hope to hold, given good health, until we celebrate our Centenary in 2022.” Matt Elliott said “It will be a huge challenge to keep driving EBB Paper forward. Our industry is in the middle of a period of change, but there are certain things which don't change - Elliott Baxter is an independent company with a formula that works. We will continue to offer a major alternative to the big two merchant groups in the UK as we keep high levels of paper stock all year, and back this up with localised sales and distribution centres. We will also continue to look at all growth opportunities.” At the event over 30 ‘long service awards’ were presented, nearly 40% of staff employed have worked at Elliott Baxter for over 10 years. |
