Twickenham Cup Final Win for Jamie and EBB!
April 2006
Elliott Baxter Sales Executive, Jamie O'Brien lead his side onto the "hallowed turf" at Twickenham on the day of the Powergen Cup final between Wasps and Llanelli on 9th April. Jamie is club captain of Dorking RFC who had got through to the Powergen Vase final to play Cleobury Mortimer at "HQ" in front of the crowds before the Cup Final. The competition involves over 550 clubs throughout England and is the highest trophy outside of the professional game and was the biggest day in Dorking RFC's history! In the biggest win in the competition's 15 year history, Dorking won 46-3 and, in doing so, passed 1,000 points for the season, running in seven unanswered tries after Jamie had opened the account with an 11th minute penalty. "Things went very much to plan" said a jubilant Jamie. "We wanted to play some open, attacking rugby and it was a thrilling experience to play at Twickenham in front of the crowd." Jamie, 32, plays fly half and is based at EBB's Croydon Branch. He has also just been selected to play for his County team, Surrey, in a forthcoming match against the Finnish national side. |
